I have been craving pulled park sandwiches like crazy this month! Summer for me equals barbecued anything, usually slathered in delicious BBQ sauce.

But guess what? BBQ sauce is loaded with sugar. Not really okay when you’re on day 27 of a 12 week sugar free challenge

My solution? To create my own, sugar-free and delicious sauce that can be enjoyed all summer long.

Clean, Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce

Makes about 2 qts

2- 15 oz cans tomato sauce

1 cup prepared date paste
3 tsp chili powder
4 cloves garlic
3 tsp Dijon
1/2 cup maple

1 tsp liquid smoke

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Mix well, then bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer 5-10 minutes. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator.
